About National Association of Black Accountants

About Us

Through the collective efforts of approximately twenty black accountants, the Greater Miami Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants was organized in September, 1975. The primary impetus behind the formation of the Chapter was a desire to provide avenues to increase minority interest in the accounting profession and to encourage professional development while stimulating community awareness.

Since its inception, the Chapter has become an influential force in the South Florida area and has provided:

  • College, high school, and elementary school tutorial services
  • Participation in local charitable and community events
  • Free tax preparation assistance (VITA)
  • Minority business consulting
  • Professional education (CPE)
  • Personnel placement service

The Greater Miami-South Florida Chapter of NABA currently has nearly 100 local professional members working in various accounting and finance arenas including Public Accounting, Financial Planning, Major Corporations, Government, Non-Profit Organizations, and Sole Practitioners. In addition, the Greater Miami-South Florida chapter has Student Member Chapters at Florida International University, the University of Miami, and Florida Memorial College.
